10 Late Bloomers Of 2012 YA Debuts

You guys, it took me like FOREVER to think of a name for today’s Top Ten Tuesday. I decided to focus on YA books that are debuting in the later part of 2012 (July-December) because I feel like this is the part of the year where we start to think about 2013 books and sometimes it’s like these later debuts are left by the wayside because we’re all getting excited about next year instead of stopping to get pumped about this year.

Does that make sense? I do not even know.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke And Bookish.

10 Debuts Coming Out From July-December 2012 That I Am TOTALLY Anticipating:

1. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff (September)

Why?: Yo, this book has a Patrick Rothfuss cover blurb, which I totally respect. ALSO. That cover. And steampunk Japan? Sign me up please.

2. Touching The Surface by Kimberly Sabatini (October)

Why?: I’ve met Kimberly a few times at book signings and she comes off as a very genuine warm person. And okay, also the summary says: “When Elliot finds herself dead for the third time, she knows she must have messed up, big-time.” AFTERLIFE GUYS! AHHH!

3. Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill (November)

Meant To Be

Why?: Apparently this one feels similar to Anna And The French Kiss, and y’all, I’m going to chase that feeling. Also I know people who have read and enjoyed it, whose opinions I trust.

4. Summer And Bird by Katherine Catmull (October)

Why?: I am cheating a little because this is middle grade, but friends BIRDS! And missing parents! And siblings. And again, an utterly timeless cover.

5. Ironskin by Tina Connolly (October)

6. Crewel by Gennifer Albin (October)

Why?: So the main character has magic where she can control lives by weaving things. How freakin’ cool is that? But then she wants to rebel against that. Bro, I am all in.

7. What’s Left Of Me by Kat Zhang (September)

  • I think most of these are already in my TBR-pile. But I’m really looking foward to Defiance and Crewel. I really liked Jane Eyre so I’ll have to check out Ironskin. And I’m amazed by how beautiful a lot of the covers are.

  • Summer and Bird is Middle Grade? Say what now? Kudos for unconventional marketing then – with that cover and that title it reminds me of literary fiction.

  • These are all awesome. Special mention to the Kristoff for your reasons, which are also mine, especially YES the Rothfuss blurb which is how I came to know about the book. And by the way, I finished The Name of the Wind yesterday after spending so much time making sweet reading love to it since February. I will NEVER EVER be the same. Best recommendation I have ever received in my life.

Oh yeah, FANTASTIC topic for a list. And great list.

  • Meant To Be sounds so good, and the colours on the cover are so pretty!

I need to read What’s Left Of Me NOW! It sounds so good and ASDFGHJKL. Also, I’ve been seeing it around a lot, with people gushing… Must be worth it.

Great topic, April! It took me forever to think of something, too [so I ended up stealing an old topic :P ].<3
