Five Reasons Friday: The Allure Of Books

by April (Books&Wine) on January 27, 2012

Five Reasons Friday is a brand new feature I’ve rolled out to shine a spotlight on my favorite book blogs. These are the blogs that don’t necessarily have the most followers, but continually impress me with their content. Please, do not email me asking to be featured as I don’t want to be put in the position of saying no.

This week I am featuring Allison at The Allure Of Books. This really should come as a shock to absolutely no one that I am featuring Allison. She is one of my best blogging friends and favorite people EVER.

The Allure Of Books

The Allure Of Books

 1. Allison is pretty much my book soul mate. Several of my favorite books are ones that Allison has pushed on me. If you like my taste in books, you will love Allison’s taste in books.

2. You know how some days it seems like EVERYONE is reviewing the exact SAME book? You won’t come across that problem on The Allure Of Books. Allison reads a wide variety – nonfiction, YA, MG, romance, classics. Girl knows the truth about variety being one of life’s spices.

3. Sometimes it’s hard to be sure of how a person really feels about a book, or you may feel like you are being bullshitted. You won’t ever feel this way when you read The Allure Of Books, because Allison is honest in all of her reviews — which is something I really value as a reader.

4. You know how there is always that one best book you’ve never read or heard of? Well, Allison has read it and chances are you will discover it on her blog. Seriously, SO MANY HIDDEN GEMS have appeared to me because of Allison’s reviews.

5. Finally, and this is pretty personal, but I think Allison has a stand up personality. I’ve known her since before book blogging — since the days of goodreads when I was intimidated to ask her friendship because she always had such interesting insight on books. She’s genuine and real. She’s a wonderful person and someone whose friendship I really, really value.  I wish I had more people like Allison at The Allure of Books in my life, because people like her make my day ALL THE TIME.

I just discovered Allison’s blog earlier today… funny how she’s your feature today! While I love reading varying reviews and thoughts on new books, after a while it gets a bit daunting and repetitive. Yes, I get that is totally kick-ass. Oh really? You also think is major hot pants? I love coming across hidden gems or books that maybe weren’t quite as popular as The Hunger Games and so glad to find a blogger who helps me out with my hunt!

Allison is awesome. I actually don’t know her at apart (apart from exchanging comments on GR and blogs) but she reads the most interesting books ever. And that is ALWAYS admirable.

Oh, cool, another blog to check out! I read the first review there (nice take on Everneath), and I think point #3 really came through after reading it. :)

Allison… Allison… Not ringin’ any bells.

Kidding! Kidding. :P

Of course you’re right in every way, except that you left out that she’s also hilarious and insanely smart. #6 & #7, unwritten runner ups perhaps?

Good feature choice and good post… Now her head will never fit through doors again. ;)

LOVE YOU, AL! :D

Love Allison’s blog! I read a variety of genres too, so I love reading her reviews and adding more books to my TBR! Excellent choice.

Oh I love hidden gems! I get tired when everyone is reviewing the same books, over and over. I might have wanted to read it if so many people weren’t reading it at the same time. It happens sometimes, but it seems to be happening more often. Right?!

I’m looking forward to delving into her reviews and picking up something great.

Allison is THE BOMB! She reads lots of the same stuff as me, and I love reading other people’s honest thoughts on books I’ve read and loved…or not loved. But Allison’s reviews are FAB. Because SHE is fab. I check her blog every day to see what she’s got going on there. I LOVE it!!!
