Penguin-Putnam Warehouse 2011 Sale Alert For Upstate NY!

by April (Books&Wine) on October 15, 2011

Howdy folks!

Every year I eagerly anticipate word of the Penguin Putnam Publisher Warehouse sale. Basically this sale is held every year and it’s where Penguin sells remaindered books at LOW PRICES.

I just checked the Press And Sun Bulletin. Here’s what they have to say:

“The Penguin Group will hold its annual warehouse book sale Nov. 12 and 14 through 19 at the former Maines warehouse on Terrace Avenue in Conklin.

The sale runs from 1 to 8 p.m. Nov. 12, 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 through 18, and 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 19. There’s no entry fee and items are priced as low as $1. Cash and checks only will be accepted, and checks require two form of identification, including one photo ID.”

This is what is typically in the press release:

Thousands of titles available including Reader’s Digest and DK
ALL SUBJECTS
FICTION * NONFICTION * JUVENILE
HARDCOVERS * PAPERBACKS * AUDIO
PRICED AS LOW AS $1.00
No entry fee
Cash and checks only – NO credit cards
(Checks require two forms of ID, including 1 photo ID)
Location:
Former -Maines warehouse on -Terrace Ave. in -Conklin, NY.
Directions:
Interstate 81 Northbound: Make a left off exit 1. Go .8 miles to light at Conklin Rd. Make right turn. Go 6.2 miles to Terrace Dr. and make left turn at large “FOR LEASE” sign.
Interstate 81 Southbound: Take exit 3 to traffic light. Turn right to 2nd traffic light and turn left. Go over bridge to Conklin Rd. Turn right. Go .4 miles and turn right onto Terrace Dr. at large “FOR LEASE” sign.

And if you are looking for an address to put in your GPS, I typically put in 1 Terrace Dr., Conklin and that pretty much takes me right to the sale.

I have tips for maximizing your sale experience here.

I’ve gone two years in a row to the sale and have never been disappointed. I’ve always come away with a large amount of books for a good price. I AM thinking that this year I want to focus more on buying books as gifts, but just want to say it’s totally worth your time and money.

Also, readers of my blog, expect a gianormous contest today. I know I’m innudating you with posts, but I have two days to make up for. PLUS I still have extra copies that I’ve purchased from previous sales for the purposes of being given away that I STILL haven’t given away, plus some ARCs that I gotta move to make space for new books.

Oh and for those still reading and curious as to what I’ve scored at the sale, BEHOLD MY HAULS:

I wish I lived remotely close to NY because I would so be there!

I wish I was still on the East Coast. But I did tell my mother that she should take a drive that weekend and see what she could find. Hopefully she’ll send me some good things :P

Ohhh, I want to go so badly, but I just checked with google maps and it’s a 3 hour plus drive (give or take about 30 minutes). A little too far one way.

WHAT!? This is INSANE. I’ve never ever heard of this! (I mean, why would I? Since I don’t live in NY, but still.) So awesome. Good luck and happy hunting.

Highlight of my November! Although my hauls don’t come ANYWHERE close to yours. Mind you, I also go to Virginia regularly for this: http://www.gvbookfair.com/ – they clearly do some of their shopping at Penguin Putnam.
