BBAW Day One: ‘Cause all you really need are a few good friends

by April (Books&Wine) on September 12, 2011

Today’s Book Blogger Appreciation Week prompt is Community.

While the awards are a fun part of BBAW, they can never accurately represent the depth and breadth of diversity in the book blogging community. Today you are encouraged to highlight a couple of bloggers that have made book blogging a unique experience for you. They can be your mentors, a blogger that encouraged you to try a different kind of book, opened your eyes to a new issue, made you laugh when you needed it, or left the first comment you ever got on your blog. Stay positive and give back to the people who make the community work for you!

Y’all, I have a ridiculous amount of mentors and friends in the book blogging community. I have a huge amount of people who make the long hours writing posts, talking on twitter, and reading books worth it.

People who make me feel like I’m not totally socially awkward.

People who make me stop and think about how YAsaves or how awesome it is to be a YAvangelist.

People who I would have a cocktail panel with instead of mooching ‘free books.’

People who I would totally dance on a bar for.

People who are slowing putting me in debt with their awesome recommendations.

People who I’d totally ride on the subway from Queens to wherever the hell we got off with.

People who show up with chocolate that is pretty much the most delicious ever and who have the greatest stories about their world travels.

People who are wise in the ways of avoiding drama and dispensing advice and organizing awesome conventions for book bloggers.

People who I will totally make goofy vlogs once a week for.

People who are totally class acts and actually really awesome in real life.

My good blogging friends, you rock and I love you and thank you so much for making this community stellar.

It’s very awesome that you were able to meet some of your blogger friends for cocktails. Your post is also a great tribute to your blogger friends and very classy.

People who don’t put up with BS, who make me laugh, who give the best pep talks…that’s YOU! xo

So much love for you and your blog and your ability to always tell it like it is. Still keeping fingers crossed that you’ll migrate to Ithaca sometime ;-)

Great post! I agree with you on many of these bloggers’ lovely attributes, and I’m about to go follow the ones that aren’t familiar to me. Thanks for sharing!
