E. Lockhart, A Totally Awesome Author OR Why You Should Never Wait Months After A Signing To Write About It

by April (Books&Wine) on May 3, 2011

Friends, compadres, amigos, I went to a super awesome signing at Oblong Books way back in February. I did cool things like took a video of it, and bought extra books to give away. I also kind of sort of never got around to posting about the signing. BOO on me, I suppose.

SO way back in February when there were still things like snow on the ground and gas below $3, I made the trek to Oblong Books with my friend Allison — (she’s on Twitter! Finally!)  to go see E. Lockhart, author of a bazillion awesome books including the Ruby Oliver series and The Disreputable History of Frankie Laundau-Banks.

E. Lockhart, Oblong Books, April Books&Wine,

Meeting E. Lockhart!!

Fantastical things happened at the signing – a copy of Divergent as well as Beauty Queens were given away. ARCs were door prizes. OH and Aimee Ferris author of Will Work For Prom Dress was there. OH and there were snacks. AND they had a copy of Sea by Heidi R. Kling for sale, making it the first time I’ve seen that book in the wild.

Meeting Aimee Ferris!

Also, E. Lockhart was not boring in the least, and told us all about Ruby and her inspiration. Also, footnotes.

Anyways, I thought I would let the videos speak for themselves.

OH OH and a contest:

Click the link and fill out the form to win all four books in the Ruby Oliver series AND The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. All of the books are signed and finished copies. Contest is INTERNATIONAL for once, because I feel bad when you are not included. Ends 5/11/2011. No stupid extra entries, however I would love it if you spread the word via twitter.

That looks like so much fun! Thanks for taking the videos! E. Lockhart sounds like a really neat person. =) I loved Frankie Landau-Banks, and I’ve been meaning to read the Ruby Oliver series (after hearing E. Lockhart talk about it, I’m even more excited to read them!). Thanks for the epic giveaway!

Sounds like me, I went to see Scott westerfeld last year and I totally meant to write about it, but ended up forgetting until it was too late.
Loved The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks! I really wish E. Lockhart would do a stop near me. ^_^

Thanks for the super contest, I’ve been wanting to read The Ruby books for ages…especially since I’ve heard nothing but great things about them.

Oh boy, the only “book signing” I’ve been to is when Ace Young from American Idol signed copies of “Chicken Soup for the American Idol Fan’s Soul”, lol. I think I’m going to have to redeem myself and go to an actual author’s book signing this year!!
