Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Things That Put Me In A Holiday Spirit

Ten Things That Put Me In A Holiday Spirit

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas EVERYWHERE YOU GO!

This week on Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, the theme is Top Ten Things That Put You In A Holiday Mood. As a self-professed Christmas LOVER, I have decided to participate, albeit six days later, BUT better late than never.

1. The Christmas Aisle.

Christmas Aisle Wal Mart

As soon as the ghosts and the pumpkin trick or treat bags come down, and the tinsel goes up, I am instantly psyched. Walking down that aisle, my heart begins to race, and I know the season has truly arrived.

2. Christmas lights.

You see, draping everything in Christmas lights instantly makes my day merry and bright (and may all your Christmases be white!).

3. Holiday Creamer.

I wait all goddamn year for Chocolate Mint Truffle creamer, and am very sad when the season ends and I have to go back to regular creamer.

4. The Red Kettle.

I feel like an asshole when I pass those kettles and don’t donate anything, so I always make sure to have a bit of change on me to toss in.  Just seeing people stand in the freezing cold ringing a bell to do something to help others makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

5. Peppermint Patties.

Not the candy, the drink. You know, milk, chocolate syrup, creme de menthe, and peppermint schapps. It’s Vixen’s drink of choice!

6. The Trans Siberian Orchestra

Blaring them in my car makes me feel both classy and Christmas-y. And I feel like a baller when I’m playing Christmas Eve Sarjevo.

7. Secret Santa

Unless you live in a cave, have no job, or no friends, or no money, then I will bet you are participating in a Secret Santa this year. I’m participating in 3. There’s something incredibly exciting about picking out things and being all secretive about it.

8. Christmas Sweaters.

Friends, I have always wanted to go on an ugly Christmas sweater bar crawl. It’s just not the season without a ridiculous sweater.

9. The movies and specials which make me laugh.

Home Alone, with your quotable lines, and Christmas Vacation with your ridiculousness, I am looking at you.

10. The movies and specials that make weep with joy.

I can’t get through A Charlie Brown Christmas without bawling as soon as those kids scream MERRY CHRISTMAS CHARLIE BROWN. Also, It’s A Wonderful Life always turns me into such a mess when Mary Bailey goes ‘it’s a miracle,George’ and everyone starts singing Hark The Herald Angels Sing and Auld Lane Syne. Seriously, it’s not Christmas to me unless I am a blubbering mess.

That Chocolate Mint Truffle creamer looks absolutely amazing. And I have never had a Peppermint Pattie drink before but it looks delicious too!!

I love the movies that always come on TV around Christmas too, especially Miracle on 34th Street. That’s one of my favs, and of course It’s a Wonderful Life is classic Christmas goodness :)

OH EM GEE. You need to get on the peppermint patty drink, it’s SO good. I swear you will enjoy it.

Miracle on 34th Street is fabulous, I do tend to weep during that one as well, ha ha.

For me, it’s the Terry’s chocolate “whack and unwrap” oranges. Yum.

I saw those in the store the other day, and was tempted to buy them on the basis on your comment.

I love Christmas – you named some of my favorite signs (especially TSO!). I love winter coffee drinks. They make everything a little better.

Seriously, winter is the best time for coffee drinks.

seriously. A Christmas that doesn’t involve sitting down and watching Christmas Vacation with my extended family is no Christmas at all.

I know right! Well, I watch it with my parents once in awhile and the boyfriend, but that’s it.

Oh and run around the house singing the lyrics when I’m hyper.

What would Christmas be with out the Griswolds.

It’s A Wonderful Life is such a great movie! Another movie that I only watch at Christmas is The Sound of Music.Seriously, it doesn’t feel like Christmas til I’ve heard the Von Trapp kids singing.

I’ve never actually watched the Sound of Music all the way through. I think I need to change that, gotta see those singing kids.

Great list – I would have to agree with every item you have. If you could add an 11th item I’d put Advent Calendars. Any excuse to eat chocolate, I say…

Oh I love the Christmas season! It’s funny because people start celebrating it over here REALLY early. As soon as September starts, the decorations are put up and all the malls play Christmas songs. I’m jealous of your holiday creamer because I love peppermint! Also, Secret Santa is awesome. I’m participating in the Book Blogger Holiday Swap and then we also have something set up at work.

That is nuts. I want to move there, lol, I wish we celebrated it earlier.

I’m in the Holiday Swap too, and am totes excited!!

I love this post! I love Christmas too, and I adore browsing the Christmas aisle at the supermarket. Here we have these giant tins of chocolates and we’ll usually buy them to ‘put away until the day’ and then end up eating them halfway through December.

I’m envious of Christmas creamer though. Here even flavoured creamer isn’t widely available. Mint chocolate truffle sounds YUM.
