I <3 you, awesome vlog!

Honestly, sometimes when I'm in one of those "I don't want to read one of the 540 owned and unread books on my shelves, what should I pick up instead?" moods I go to the ALA website and look at the banned book lists for reading recommendations :P

Every single time I think about Harry Potter being banned I want to punch somebody. If there was ever a more blatant "good triumphs over evil" plot line I'd like to hear about it, because I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist. If you have raised such a moronic child that they are convinced of the existance of magic by reading a fantasy novel then you should probably pull a Sylvia Plath for being such a horrible parent and waste of space and stop persecuting JK Rowling for trying to give your kid a story about love and bravery.

As for books like Ellen Hopkins', if I was a parent of a young adult today I would purposely buy the books for my kid. Every single teenager in America has heard of drugs, and I personally would rather have them explore the topic and satisfy their curiosity by reading a book then by hitting up their friendly neighborhood drug dealer.

Just sayin'.

Haha I love this vlog!

I think it's stupid they ban books. We were just talking about this in my class a few weeks ago. Did you know China banned Alice in Wonderland because the animals talked and they weren't allowed to be on the same level as people? A school some where on the East banned it because of its "sexual content" because the flowers call her a serpent.

People should have the choice to read a book or not, no matter what book it is!

I absolutely love this video :) You mention some great books. I didn't know The Outsiders was banned – we did it in high school! I haven't read Cujo, anything by Ellen Hopkins, or the Alexie Sherman book. I am waiting on some Ellen Hopkins books though so I'm really looking forward to that!

Also, I would recommend adding a Koran to your bookshelf along with the Bible to learn about the other side of things like the crusades and the way the world works :)

Loved your vlog! I understand your frustration, I always get worked up when book banning comes up. I will vouch for Crank and The Absolutely Diary.. I am glad you are reading them.

Amazing vlog. Banned books make me incredibly frustrated and in the end, people are usually drawn to them even more than they would have been if they weren't banned.

Loved your picks too. I agree with your thoughts about the Bible, it is so necessary for understanding the world.

And Tolkien… really? Hobbits aren't evil.
