48 Hour Marathon Wrap Up

by April (Books&Wine) on June 7, 2010

Wow! It has been quite an intense weekend of marathon reading as hosted by The Mother Reader, although I have really only poked my nose in three books.

Starting Friday at noon, I began to devour the last 150 pages of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. After work, I settled down in my reading chair and did not get up until I finished the very last page. Upon finishing that, I took a short break, then began a few pages of The Passage.

Flashforward to Saturday! I woke up at 8 just clamouring for The Passage. I read the book off and on from the time I got up until about 10 p.m., so overall 15 hours. What an insanely vivid, chilling, scary, wonderful book the Passage is.

Sunday, the last day of the marathon. I woke up around 10, dropped downstairs for some coffee, and dug right back into The Passage for about 3 hours. I found myself needing to take a break, as I was getting overwhelmed by all these emotions. Around 4 p.m. I decided, self – you need a treat. At the ‘mall’ I was very tempted by romance novels, and wound up taking home a whole pile, as well as Avatar. When I got back, I read a few more pages of The Passage, finally putting it on hold to watch Avatar and eat some meat covered pizza. During Avatar, being the fidget monster that I am, I had to start reading One Dance With A Duke by Tessa Dare. For serious, guys, The Passage was killing my buzz, so I needed to recharge my emoto-batteries. Hence, the ROMANCE novel. Make fun of me all you want, this book is addictive. I then read One Dance With A Duke for about half an hour before bed.

My stats?
Hours Reading: 26 +/- an hour
Books I Stuck My Nose In: 3
Books Finished: 1 – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Books I Am Still Living In: The Passage by Justin Cronin and One Dance With A Duke by Tessa Dare

I know that everyone keeps saying it, but it is hard to believe that The Passage is so good. The more I hear about it, the more that I am tempted. I haven't heard a bad or even so-so thing about it yet!

I think I'll have to buy The Passage, I'm so excited for it.

And now that you have me thinking Tessa Dare, I may just have to read Goddess of the Hunt soon too.

You should get to Ten Rules to Break soonish, it really is hilarious.

I was really moved by your impressions of The Passage. It's joining my TBR pile this weekend!

Sounds like you had a great reading weekend! I did a good time, too, on your 48 hours. I just can't wait for my copy of The Passage to arrive home!

I love the Mortal Instruments series. It's my favorite at the moment. If you like them, you'll probably like my new YA fantasy novel. You can take a peek preview at ch 1 on the Lethal Inheritance page of http://publishersearch.worpress.com
